ANNOUNCEMENT: The Institute of Corporate Directors' New Chief Executive Officer
November 04, 2021 Dear Fellows and Members of the Institute of Corporate Directors, On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Corporate Directors, it is my distinct honor to announce the assumption of Mr. Carlos Jose “Charlie” P. Gatmaitan as the Chief Executive Officer of ICD, effective 1 November 2021.
Mr. Gatmaitan is currently an Independent
Director and Chairman of the Governance
Committee of Solar Philippines Corp and an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Life Savings Bank. He also sits as a Director in the Board of Directors of HG Empire Corporation. Prior to this, he was the Chairman of MRC Allied, Inc., a publicly listed company at the Philippine Stock Exchange involved in renewable energy, mining, and property
development. He was also appointed by President Benigno S. Aquino III as President and CEO of PNOC Renewables Corporation, a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) mandated to develop renewable energy in the Philippines.
During his term, he was a Director of the National Renewable Energy Board (NREB) and led joint venture agreements involving major renewable energy projects.
Mr. Gatmaitan is a Teaching Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). He is also a
Professor of Strategy Management at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB). He has taught various courses to corporate directors throughout the country in Strategy, Policy, Governance, and Risk Management.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Organizational Development from the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Institute; and both MBA, B.S. Business Administration from the Pepperdine University, California.
Everyone, let us all welcome and support our new CEO as he starts on his journey in leading ICD.
Before we bid our farewell to our outgoing CEO, Mr. Leonardo Jose M. Berba, we would like to show our utmost appreciation for all his efforts in spearheading the Institute’s survival plan during one of the most difficult times not just for the Institute but the whole nation. Since the beginning of his term, Mr. Berba has faced the challenges brought about by the eruption of Taal Volcano and the unprecedented pandemic that had greatly affected not just ICD but the whole economy.
Despite the uncertainty of these trying times, we were able to make it through. ICD is striving and had managed to secure its survival through the harsh realities of this pandemic. These are all fruits of the hardwork and perseverance of the ICD Team that was led by Mr. Berba. Mr. Berba will still present his 2021 report to the Board of Trustees this December 2021 Board meeting.
Our sincerest gratitude to you, Lenard, for all the things you have done to the Institute. We wish you success in your future endeavors.
To all our Fellows and Members of the Institute of Corporate Directors, we hope for your utmost support for both gentlemen.
